| "When in the past I was traveling in Thailand, I always thought there was some good fishing to be done. But because of the language barrier it was impossible to get any information about fishing spots. Later, I got in contact with Jean-Francois Helias through the International Game Fish Association (thanks to Lesley J. Arico). We agreed for 3 fishing days in June 2002: 2 days at Bung Sam Lan lake and one day Barramundi fishing. The information Jean-Francois sent me by e-mail was promising.
I could never have guessed before experiencing it myself how much fishing could be that great in Thailand. During those 2 days at Bung Sam Lan, I caught numerous Mekong giant catfish, striped catfish, a lovely Rohu (Labeo rohita) and 2 Pacu (Collosoma). Unfortunately I lost a huge Siamese giant carp estimated around 60 kilos.
The action was also very good at the other lake. All morning I was catching barramundis like crazy (biggest one 5.00 Kg). Bites slowed down in the afternoon until I got one more bite from a real big one: an impressive Barramundi weighing 13.00 kilos!
The arrangements during my trip were absolutely great. The accommodation at the Somerset Hotel and the round trip transportation to the fishing spots were really good, the guiding service was truly excellent. There was no extra cost added so everything went as promised. We all know that there are many guiding services with some unexpected extra costs...
Thank you everything Jean-Francois! I will be coming back, probably many, many times."
