| "Thanks, Gene, and now you have learned what a great guy Francois is. Make certain that you credit his photo and honor him in your acknowledgements section of this new edition of your ichthyology textbook.
Francois has been a great help to me over several years -- a wonderful relationship that continues. Long ago, I put him in contact with Jack Randall and others who are experts on Pacific fishes, and he's been in contact with them since. He has helped Larry Page and others who are working on the world inventory of catfish species, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Although Francois was not trained to be an ichthyologist, his knowledge of Asian fishes (not just in Thailand) continues to amaze me. He knows fishes and the difference between species from various parts of Asia. In addition, he knows most of the native fishes in Thailand and the introduced species there.
I want you to see Francois in action, and I will send you a DVD copy of the National Geographic Channel program."
