| "Sawadee Krap Khun Francois,
Thanks for sharing your insights on the carp/wels issue as well as your take on anglers.
Anglers; they come in all shapes, sizes, sexes, races, creeds and colors. You are right. Angling ability has little or nothing to do with one's capacity for being an asshole. If fact, the more successful some become the bigger assholes they are. Again, human nature and human failing. I've not had the experience that you have in dealing with different nationalities of fishermen, but I suspect mostly they are good, with the exceptions tending to define a national trait. It probably has as much to do with competition for resources as anything. In places where fishing is tough and tedious, I think people become more competitive and more aggressive. In a circumstance where there is an abundance of available fishes and fishing locations, folks tend to take their good fortune for granted.
You are a unique individual. I have been very lucky to have fished with many outstanding guides and outfitters all over the world. Some have become very good friends. The pleasure of your company extends past the love of the angling sport. I simply like your attitude. Some of that has to do with fishing and some with common understanding. Mostly it is a comfort level. I don't gauge people on their accomplishments, only on how they view their own world. People who are comfortable in their own skin usually make those around them feel equally as comfortable.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!"
